Yes — joining the waitlist is completely free, and once BUCR launches, browsing and discovering venues costs nothing. The only spend is the small refundable deposit when you make a reservation. Show up and it comes straight back to you, with a bonus on top.
If you cancel within the allowed window, you get a full or partial refund based on the venue's policy. If you no-show without cancelling, the deposit is forfeited — most of it goes to the venue as compensation, and a small portion is the BUCR platform fee.
If a venue cancels your confirmed booking, your deposit is returned in full — automatically, no questions asked. The venue's reliability score also takes a hit. BUCR holds vendors to the same accountability standard as guests.

BUCR is launching in Nigeria in 2026, starting with Lagos and Abuja. Everyone on the waitlist gets early access before public launch. Expansion across other Nigerian cities and into key African markets is planned for 2027 onwards.
